Aizawl, 12 December 2025 : Mizoram’s apex student body, the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) General Headquarters, has launched a landmark initiative called the Students’ Aid Fund (SAF), aimed at supporting students facing financial hardship. The launch event was graced by Chief Minister Lalduhoma as the chief guest, with Minister of State B. Lalchhanzova also attending as a special guest.
During the program, MZP President Dr. C. Lalremruata explained that the organisation had frequently assisted students who sought emergency financial help, but its limited resources made it difficult to support everyone in need. “We have created the Students’ Aid Fund so that we can help students on a larger scale,” he said.
According to Dr. Lalremruata, the SAF is designed specifically for students who genuinely need assistance. All contributions will go directly to beneficiaries, with no deduction for organisational use. The fund will operate in two forms: grants and interest-free loans, managed by the SAF Management Committee in accordance with strict guidelines. Only students officially enrolled in recognised institutions will be eligible, with special consideration for rural students and those who are differently-abled. The committee will closely screen applications to prevent misuse.
Chief Minister Lalduhoma, in his address, praised the initiative as a meaningful step for students, especially those from remote areas. He said MZP’s commitment to supporting learners reflects the organisation’s broader contribution to building a stronger society. He encouraged the public to give freely whenever they are in a position to help those in need.
The Chief Minister added that the SAF will ensure that all struggling students can access timely support. He noted that even the CM Relief Fund receives many applications under different names, which has made the creation of well-defined guidelines essential. He encouraged students currently facing academic and personal challenges to stay strong, highlighting that many successful individuals today once studied under difficult circumstances.
Minister of State B. Lalchhanzova also commended the initiative, stating that many people want to contribute to others but often lack a clear system to do so. The SAF, he said, will provide a trustworthy avenue for such support.
During the event, ₹2,15,235 was raised for the new fund.
